team is a multi stage process involving executive management,
investment management, marketing, operations and legal and
compliance teams. Generally, product development tends to
be either production driven or marketing driven.
“Production driven” means that the idea behind
an innovation stems from the portfolio management side, which
has a particularly good idea of emerging opportunities because
of its proximity to the financial markets and the many years
experience portfolio managers have across a wide variety of
market cycles. “Marketing driven” means that clients
themselves reveal new requirements. Their ideas are sourced
by relationship managers and marketing people, who incorporate
them into the product and service development process.
Product development is a key strategic driver for Charles
